The Holy Spirit
We believe in Gods power being demonstrated in a real way through the third Person of the Trinity, The Holy Spirit.
When the Holy Spirit moves things change for the better - Individuals are healed, set free from addiction, broken hearts are mended, bitterness disappears and you receive a new boldness to live out your Christian walk
Manifestations of the anointing
Falling on the floor
In a move of the Spirit, people often fall on the floor – termed "slain in the Spirit" by some or "falling under the power". One does not have to look long to see that something is happening inside those who experience this. Such was the response of the people like Ezekiel (Ezk 1:28, 3:23), Daniel (Dan 10:9) and John (Rev 1:17). When the ark was brought into Solomon's temple, "the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the Lord had filled the house of God" (2 Chron 5:14), perhaps indicating that they had fallen under the power of God.
Shaking, Jerking or trembling
When the Holy Spirit begins to touch others, they respond or react by shaking, jerking or trembling. This can be seen over their whole body or sometimes just parts of their body, for example hands or head etc. This seemed to be the response of men around Daniel (Dan 19:7), Jeremiah (Jer 23:9), Habakkuk (Hab 3:16). The psalmist suggests that the people of God should tremble in His presence (Ps 99:1, 114:7), as God suggested when He spoke to Jeremiah. (Jer 5:22)
Groaning and travailing
Romans 8:26 explains "likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groaning which cannot be uttered". Paul wrote to the Galatians that he would "labor in birth again until Christ is formed in you"(Gal 4:19)
Deep Bowing
Both Ezra (Ez 10:1) and David (Ps 35:13-14) bowed deeply before the Lord, and both were intercessors for the people.
Heavy weeping and crying
Scripture records that both Nehemiah (Neh 1:4) and Ezra (Ez 10:1) cried or wept heavily. God warned a sin-filled Israel, "Turn to Me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning" (Joel 2:12). The Psalmist declared, "those who sow in tears shall reap in joy (Ps 126:5-6)
Laughing
"A merry heart does good like medicine" (Prov 17:22). Laughter is a viable response when God brings freedom: "When the Lord brought back captives to Zion, we were like men who dreamed. Our mouths were filled with laughter, and our tongues with songs of joy…The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy". (Ps 126:1-3NIV)
Being Still or Solemn
King David frequently wrote of "waiting on the Lord" or "resting" in God's presence; also how he quieted himself (Ps 25:5, 27:14, 73:7, 131:2). This manifestation is a choice - as one is still and silent before the Lord there is often personal, intimate communion shared. God gives words of comfort, refreshing or instruction.
Being "drunk" in the Spirit
At Pentecost, onlookers mocked and accused the believers of acting drunk; "these men are full of new wine" (Acts 2:13). Paul instructed the Ephesians "do not be drunk with wine….but be filled with the Spirit (Eph 5:18)
Having visions and dreams
These often take place while a person is "resting in the Lord". It can be similar to a trance, such as Peters vision (Acts 10:9-17). Joel prophesied that "old men shall dream dreams, and young men shall see visions" (Joel 2:28).
Radiance or Glowing
We know that when Moses had an encounter in the presence of God, he came out looking difference - he was radiant with glory. (Ex 4:29)
Speaking in tongues
Often when a person has an encounter with the Holy Spirit he will speak in new tongues. (Act 2:3-4)
Dancing / Singing
After a person has been touched by God or ministered to by the Spirit of God, they often want to express their joy – this is often seen in dancing or singing. (Ps 149:3, Lk 1:46-55)
Other Manifestations
Through many years of experience in ministry under the power of the Holy Spirit, we have seen, and other people have testified, to various other physical manifestations that often take place in conjunction with the above -
¨ Increased respiration
¨ Heat, warmth, feeling the fire of Holy Spirit
¨ Feeling like floating
¨ Perspiration
¨ Tingling
¨ Eyelids flickering
But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.
(Acts 1:8)
